Swimming at Park
At Park Academy, we believe every child learn to swim and become develop a life-long, necessary skill. Our hope is that every child that attends our school will become a confident swimmer.
Lessons for swimming occur in every year group from Year 4 onwards. Pupils will begin their learning in this area when they are 8-9 and may become fluent swimmers quickly. Where this is not the case, pupils are provided further swimming in Year 5 and top-up swimming in Year 6 where needs have been identified. In the event pupils attend our setting already able to swim confidently, they are challenged further by the swimming instructors to reach further swimming milestones.
What does my child need?
Please provide your child with a towel, hat (where appropriate) and swimming attire. Swimming outfits should be fitted with girls wearing a full suit and boys wearing swimming shorts. We ask that outfits provided are appropriate and do not discolour or become translucent in water.
Goggles may be worn and should be adjusted by parents or carers prior to the session. Please remove earrings before your child comes to school if your child is unable to do so for themselves.
If your child has a verucca, please treat appropriately but we have been advised to allow children with veruccas to swim.
While supervision is provided from the swimming instructors, further support is provided by the class teacher and additional adults in attendance from our school. There will always be at least 2 adults from our school in attendance.
Staff at the swimming pool and at our school are trained in the necessary first-aid areas in the event of injury.
