Year 4 have been learning the steps of Salat (Muslim prayer) to help them understand why it is such an important part of Islamic life. Well done everyone, you showed great interest and respect.
In Foxes we have spent this afternoon learning all about circuits and electricity. The children were amazed and used some fantastic language and vocabulary when describing how a circuit works. I think their faces say it all.
Yesterday, the children in Reception enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. We firstly found out about the celebration, learning that the colour red is important as it brings good luck. We then watched a video to see how Chinese New Year is celebrated, we loved the colourful Chinese Dragon’s!
After, we tried some different chinese foods. The children did so well as they demonstrated willingness in trying the different foods! The spring rolls, noodles and prawn crackers were a firm favourite, with some children liking the sweet chilli sauce! The children filled in their forms after tasting each food to record if they liked it or not.
What a busy but enjoyable afternoon!
Our children were lucky enough to be able to take part in a fitness workshop recently which was run by Fit4kids. The children learnt about how much sugar and salt is certain well known brand items and the importance of eating a balanced diet full of fresh fruit and vegetables each day. The children then took part in various fitness activities which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Year 4 have had an exciting morning! They have been detectives by using clues they found in their sand trays to infer what the theme of their new book was in English. Some of their ideas were great and they made links between items that I had missed!
It was brilliant to see how enthusiastic you were!
Oh no, year 3 children and staff arrived to find the destruction left after the “earthquake” last night! The children decided what we needed in our disaster survival kit, made volcanoes and an exciting science experiment. A wonderful ‘WOW Day! I think everyone is very excited to learn all about volcanoes this term.
Yesterday, the children in Reception had a visit from the firefighters that work at Boston Fire Station! They brought the fire engine for us to look at and they gave us lots of information about different areas/parts of the fire engine. The firefighters explained how they help people and the children now know that firefighters do not just put out fires, they also help and rescue people in different ways. The children demonstrated great listening skills as they were all so excited to find out more about the fire engine and firefighters. They asked some brilliant questions!
What a great day to introduce our new theme of learning this term; People who help us.
